One of the most basic elements of living a healthy life is getting an adequate amount of exercise. Proper exercise is unfortunately one of the most ignored factors in a healthy lifestyle, which is one of the main reasons why obesity is becoming such a common problem. The majority of individuals do not get enough exercise to balance their caloric intake, which results in excessive weight gain. To live a truly healthy life, you need to be familiar with the basics of good exercise, as well as how regular exercise can benefit your body.
But, what are the benefits of exercise? Well, they are numerous! Firstly, good quality exercise allows you to Increase your Basal Metabolic Rate (BML). This is one of the best benefits associated with exercise is that over time, you will increase your basal metabolic rate (BMR). Your BMR is defined as the amount of energy you burn while resting. As a general rule, increasing your muscle mass (even by a small amount) causes a subsequent increase in your BMR; this means that you will eventually have higher caloric requirements to satisfy your active lifestyle. This is also a great way to lose extra weight, as your body increases its percentage of lean muscle mass.
Exercise is shown to improve your mood! That’s right, do your family complain you’re always grumpy? Scientific studies have proven that regular exercise promotes a general feeling of well-being. This usually manifests by you feeling much more relaxed and happier during your daily activities. In addition to this, exercise also reduces stress and promotes a positive self-image. As your body begins to display the positive effects of your exercise routine, you will begin to notice that your confidence will increase as well. It’s a proven fact that regular exercise is also one of the best ways to prevent depression.
A hobby is something that each and every one of us has and enjoys. For some, collecting postage stamps could be an enjoyable hobby, while for a few, it could be the idea of braving extreme weather conditions and snowboarding down icy mountain slopes. Whatever it may be, a hobby is something that one pursues for pleasure, for enjoyment, for leisure, and for an altogether different degree of happiness and satisfaction. There is a popular saying which goes, “Lucky are those who have time after work for pursuing their hobby, but luckiest are those for whom work itself is a hobby”. On that note, let us have a look at a comprehensive hobbies list, and one which will grow as the weeks go by and new companies are selected by our team to be featured.
Generally speaking, there are many different types of hobbies that we get to see around us. We come across women who enjoy knitting as a hobby, and at the same time we run into the occasional daredevils who engage themselves in some stunt biking as a hobby. Arts and crafts, sports, performing arts, culinary arts, social service, gardening, travelling, collecting souvenirs, etc, are a few things that come to mind when we think of the word ‘hobbies’. But is that it? Surely there must be a larger, longer and wider list of hobbies, ideas, and interests right? Yes, there certainly is. Let us have a look at it in the following sections of this article.
Arts and Crafts
A sure way to enhance your creative skills, any hobby related to arts and crafts is bound to help you reduce stress levels for adults and in case of children, they get the opportunity to improve their skills and showcase their talent. Most hobby stores have a range of options to woo their customers in style. For those interested in fabric paintings can choose from fabric paints that are packaged either in bottles or tubes to make things easier for people without any artistic skill. Glass craft is also popular with ready-made stencils available at any hobby shop. Trying paper craft would offer you novels ways to discover new things with the do-it-yourself kits. Most hobby shops have a lot of such kits that guide the novice to achieve great results.
Toys/Games
Children can be pulled away from their television sets once they discover the world of fun and educative games and toys. Make sure you visit a hobby store that stocks educational games that compel your child to think. Jigsaw puzzles, Model kits, Science kits, Building blocks, Chinese checkers, Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble all help to build a child’s technique of applying his mind to think in different situations.
Collecting Items
Some people have a unique interest in gathering unusual items like stamps, coins, dolls, artifacts etc. Your local hobby store can be a perfect guide for you in this regard. You can browse through it and find products like a stamp book in varied designs that can help you guard your collection and display it, when your friends drop in for a visit.
Make Your Own Creations
You don’t really have to buy that pretty doll you saw at the shopping centre. There are great options available at hobby shops that can teach you how to make these items within the confines of your own home. Learn to make jewellery boxes, costumes, dolls, puppets, bags etc. Though it may sound complicated, you can get an array of books and even supplies and materials to help you make that cute lil’ dolly for your children.

Feature: What Makes A Beautiful Dress
For women: fashion trends fall in and out. Headbands, flairs, overalls, torn jeans, faded tops they’ve all been popular over the years but none still remain around today. There is however one piece of clothing that has survived centuries and that is the ‘Beautiful Dress’. This is simply because – no matter what type of woman you are – there is a dress for you and it’ll make you look and feel fantastic. But what is it about a dress that is so appealing? What do you look for when buying one? The Gazette’s Editorial team decided to take a look and find out:
Love New Design – Women love variety. That is why they are so good at shopping. You will never find the women’s section in a shop to be boring as there’s always new designs, styles and different types of clothing, accessories, shoes and bags to capture your attention. Just looking at women’s clothing alone will bowl you over about how creative some of these designers have created going out dresses for ladies. The options are endless. And women love it that way.
Makes Them Look Great – Since there are so many different types of dresses available, competition is crazy. That’s why prices can be very competitive. Women love to buy clothes that will make them look great and the more variety you have, the more excited they will be in wanting to buy those that meet their taste and budget. Women want to wear something that is comfortable to go out with. And they would like clothes that are able to show off their lovely figures as well – the dress suits that need perfectly.
Comfortable And Fashionable – Wearing beautiful clothes that are comfortable and fashionable will also allow women to showcase their personality. Some women may prefer certain styles or colour while others are always following the fashion trends that keep on changing. What is important is that the going out dresses fit them comfortably and makes you look great. Since fashion is always changing constantly, women will always enjoy shopping for new beautiful dresses; all the time looking for the latest pattern, style, colour for the season.
Shopping Therapy – Then there’s the urge to shop as it’s able to meet their need of wanting to adorn themselves with stuff to make them attractive. Shopping in itself makes them feel fulfilled. So men are not surprised that most women have quite a range of lovely clothing for any occasion. Whether they are getting ready to go for a party or a formal event, they are bound to have a dress or outfit ready.
So there you have it. The rundown on why women love to buy beautiful dresses or all types of different clothing for that matter. With Christmas coming up to there isn’t a better time to get out there and start trying things on! In this issue we’d like to bring to your attention ‘The Dress Circle’ in Potters Bar. Located at 79 High Street it should be your first stop when looking for the types of dresses we’ve discussed in this article. Wedding day sweet treats
Wow factor
Dessert Tables
Move over chocolate fountains. There’s a hot trend in the wedding world of scrumptiousness. For something a little bit quirky to get your guests all in a flutter, I present to you….desert tables! Also known as cake tables, they are exquisitely stylish and truly delicious. A great spin on the old cake front. With couples increasingly keen to provide something unique and memorable on the day, having just one cake no longer seems enough…..especially when you can have many! With desert tables, couples can have a huge variety of delicious treats for their guests. It’s not to say you can’t have that traditional wedding cake, you just won’t require a towering 6 tier cake. It’s still the norm to have one cake that acts as the cutting cake anyway.
Deserts tables are also a fantastic way for brides to stamp their look on their day. For those who don’t know, it’s basically a table at the reception that showcases a selection of cakes and deserts in different shapes and sizes, all styled to fit in with the look of the day. You’ll need a reasonable sized long table or two tables pushed together covered with linens.
The fun part is arranging the gourmet desserts and/or sweets along with their custom designed dessert labels and tags, non-edible accessorize to add decoration, and of course plates and utensils.
The desserts could be anything from decadent sticky toffee puddings and rich rocky road to light as air meringues and melt in the mouth mini cheesecakes. Best bit, both families’ favourites can be included. Accessories could be wishing tees, candles, flower arrangements, bunting and even pretty bottled drinks that match the colour scheme. Just let your imagination free and you’ll be presently surprised at what you can come up with.
As for budget, you don’t necessarily want to spend half your budget on a desert table, but at the same time you want it to look special. You can have both, asks your baker to work with what you have. If money’s an issue, bulk up your display with co-ordinating sweets and fruit. Remember that desert tables are very versatile and can even bring their own homemade creations to help save on costs. Another thing as well, some venues allows the desert tables to replace the desert course at the end of the meal.
The secret to a desert table is to create a feast for the senses and always have just enough to satisfy guests, but leaving them wanting more. It’s about being totally unique, a little daring and always one step ahead of the rest!
Variations
Candy buffets (also known as sweetie bars or tables) are displays of confectionary and retro sweets which are all presented in lovely bowls and glassware. When we see a table adorned with sweets and mini treats our eyes instantly widen and were taken back to the days of being a kiddie in a sweet shop. Themes such as mad hatter work very well with these sweet displays.
Ever heard of Cake Pops? There yummy bites of cake on a lollipop stick which often form part of a desert table or candy buffet, but they work equally well on their own as favours. There just the right size to nibble on and can be dipped to match your colour theme. What’s more, they can be decorated with glitter, edible flowers or just a simple but effective ribbon tied into a bow around the stick.
Wrapped up in love: a magical winter wedding There is something about a winter wedding that brings a touch of fairy tale to the occasion. One of the best things about winter is that the evenings start early. This means more celebration time, and plenty of room for candles, fairy lights or even some fireworks. Summer may be brighter, but in winter you can create your own light. The beauty of winter lies in its ability to paint a stunning picture. Winter always has a way of bringing out the beauty in its surroundings. Think of frosty mornings, mystical days and crisp clear nights. Choosing winter means you could pick from Christmas, New Year and even Valentine’s Day for a truly indulgent day. And as winter weddings become more and more popular, designers are focusing harder to create stunning dresses fit for a winter bride. Look for styles made in heavier fabric like satin or taffeta, steering clear of chiffons or silks. And if you’re wearing a strapless dress, accessorise with a fur shrug to achieve the ultimate glamorous winter look. Complete with ivory gloves and sparkling jewellery for a sprinkle of wintery lust. It is clear to see why a winter wedding works so well, couples love the dramatic scene a winter wedding brings, but there are more reasons to choose a winter wedding. You’ll find off-season rates and always good availability too, and with many venues offering incentives to choose them for your winter wedding wonderland, you’ll have more to spend on a lovely honeymoon designed for two.
Marquees If you like the idea of celebrating your wedding party under the stars, then do just that, under canvas in a truly personal venue. Marquees are great for those who have a dream location in mind, as they can be erected almost anywhere, from the grounds of an elegant country house to a coastal beech or even a cliff top. Do double check first with your venue though just to make sure they are happy for you to hire a marquee. But if you’re thinking about having your celebrations, a little off the beaten track, do ask the local landowner if you can hire the space. Marquees can be decorated beautifully, completed with tables and chairs, flowers and lights and a whole lot more. A marquee package is only limited by your imagination. A marquee can hold a large number of guests too, often more than the average venue. Summertime is the peak seasons for hiring a marque, so if you’ve got a date in mind, do give yourself plenty of time to book. It might seem like there’s a lot to think about and sort out but there really isn’t, leave the stress behind and let them do all the hard work. Remember that marquee companies deal with hundreds of weddings and, whilst yours is obviously unique, they will have the experience with all sorts of issues and have lots of solutions up their sleeves, let them worry about the marquee and you just enjoy the experience.
A Magical Winter Wedding Dreaming of a winter wedding? Who can blame you, they are without a doubt, super glamorous, stylish and truly magical. With lots of preparation and clever ideas your winter wedding will be a wonderland to remember forever. Romantic and cosy venues are the key to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Think of atmospheric candle-lit castles complete with roaring open log fires, glorious historic buildings with high ceilings and original beams surrounded by acres of unspoilt countryside and lakes, enchanting churches amidst the most beautiful gardens you have ever seen or simply wonderfully charming hotels and lodges set in secluded gardens. All of these make for a very special wedding, unique to you and your loved one. Transform your winter venue into a magical grotto of twinkling lights, flickering candles and seasonal colours. Winter is the perfect time for seasonal favourites like smoked salmon, Palma ham and smoked sun-dried tomato bruschetta or warming winter soup entrees. Follow these with roast lamb or beef, rich desserts and cheese boards and one of my favourite winter necessities, mulled wine! You may wish to make the most of the early winter evenings and wow your guests with a fireworks display. With the sun setting as early as 4.15pm, a firework display timed to coincide with your first toast as husband and wife will make your champagne reception truly unforgettable. Keep warm and stylish with beautiful accessories from faux fur boleros, shrugs and capes to bride’s winter boots and willies. Winter wedding flower arrangements featuring seasonal elements such as pine cones holly and evergreen boughs add festive touch to your wintery celebration. Good luck, enjoy your big day and best wishes for your future together.
CHEESE WEDDING CAKES Perfect for rustic, country style weddings and a gorgeous addition to a stylish urban city wedding. Not only is the cheese wedding cake a fashionable trend, it’s also a healthy and delicious alternative to the sweet cake. Yes it really is a wedding cake made entirely of cheese. They are the ultimate stylish cheeseboard made to resemble a multi-tiered wedding cake and they’re growing ever more fashionable. It does have a rather continental feel to it, but if you want something that bit different to wow your guests, the cheese wedding cake will definitely impress. For the ultimate wedding breakfast, you don’t have to choose between two options, you can have a traditional iced and decorated wedding cake for the ‘cutting of the cake’ photographs and also have a cake of cheese too. If you only want one wedding cake with a difference, go for the cheese cake alone, your guests will love the savoury option. There are cheese companies who will design and build tailor-made cheese wedding cakes for you, but you can easily build your own. To make your own you will need to decide on the suppliers you’ll be using to source your cheeses and the cheese selection. You’ll need to source a variety of different cheeses, using a selection similar to that found on a good cheese board. Your cheeses should vary in colour, texture and flavour, and come in wheels so they’re easy to stack. Allow around 100g of cheese per guest, or a minimum of 10kg per 100 guests. If you are providing this alongside a traditional wedding cake, you may need less than 100g per person. By having three to five layers of cheese in varying sizes from big to small, you’ll achieve the traditional tiered wedding cake look. When it’s time to present your cheeses, you can either use a wedding cake stand stacking the cheeses directly on top of one another, or put a circle of greaseproof paper between each cheese. To finish, decorate with grapes, flowers, fruits and leaves for a stunning effect and serve with crusty bread and/or savoury crackers on the side along with chutneys and pickles. Remember as well that if you have any cheese left over, it will keep for weeks in the fridge. Hard cheese like Cheddar can be grated and frozen for use in sauces, whilst 250 gram portions of Blue Stilton wrapped in foil can be frozen for up to 3 months. The trick then is to defrost the Stilton cheese slowly in the fridge overnight. And there you have it, a very stylish, low cost, waste free and delicious alternative to a traditional wedding cake.

So, what exactly is education? Well, simply put it is the process of learning and knowing. This process of course is not restricted to school textbooks only. Education starts from birth. It is the parents which inculcate good manners and make responsible human beings out of their children. Home is essentially then their first school.
However, typically, when we talk about education we are referring to the formal education that starts from the first school our child attends, where they learn how to behave and understand what is happening around them.
Education is important for everyone in the world. It makes one able to understand what is happening around us logically and clearly. An educated person has the ability to take viable decisions and make right moves at the right time. Human existence without education is just like fecund land.
Education not only enables individuals to put their potential to best use and do something productive in the upcoming future, but also plays a main role in shaping an individual to be a better, responsible citizen and an active member of the society.
But, just how do you pick the right school? Well, of course you need to do your research, the internet and family/friends is probably the best place to start, but the most important thing to do is visit the school you are considering. In our opinion, the very best option available to you is to attend an open day.
A School Open Day brings to life those glossy brochures that you have been poring over at home for many weeks. It really is a valuable opportunity to see the schools for yourselves; meet the teaching staff, existing pupils and maybe parents who already have children there.
